a “larger sense of community” within Moreland Walk. Sergey believes that buyers in their target demographics have responded to those amenities as well. “We think we’ve created the right product for the right audience,” he says. Moving forward, Royal Oak’s goal is to deliver more multifamily projects like Moreland Walk – projects that offer premium quality, while still being affordable and meeting the everyday needs of buyers. On the development side, the company’s goal is also to diversify. They are interested in exploring the mixed-use sector, and incorporating retail and office space into their residential developments. They believe that’s what future buyers and renters will be looking for. “The market is evolving, and we’re really excited about this evolution and we want to be a part of it,” Sergey says. “Retail, office space, and living quarters – we’re working on a few projects where we can bring all these pieces together.” Lastly, Royal Oak intends to grow – they have grown substantially over the past few years, and they expect that pace to continue – but Surgey says that growth is not what drives him and Yona. “I’m a father of four children,” Sergey says. “Yona has two kids. Family is very important to us. We also value the family and personal time of everyone that works for us.” “So it’s not about getting bigger for the sake of getting bigger,’ he concludes. “It’s about doing the right projects. It’s about creating buildings that will benefit the public as well as us. That’s why we do what we do, and I think that’s a big part of our success.” AUGUST 2022
