Fortunately, the diverging paths allowed for the two friends to combine their skills and experiences later when they decided to form Barrington. “Aaron and I talked about doing these kinds of larger scale apartment and single- family home developments” notes Leishman. “We got an opportunity, which was a TOYS R US property, which we had the opportunity to buy and develop into a large apartment building. That was the exit for me. We closed on that property.” That property was a 2.85- acre development site, which contained a 40,000 square foot retail building. In less than two years, Barrington was able to exit on the project with a 60 percent increase in valuation. This project set the tone for the success of Barrington Capital Group, LLC. In the past five years alone, Barrington has acquired, developed, and sold over 100 properties. Those numbers point towards the quality of serviceatthecoreofBarrington’s business. Integral to the vision and business of Barrington is assuring that buildings fit into the surrounding landscape. “I think what sets Barrington Capital Group apart is attention to detail” outlines Leishman. “We work very closely with architects. We chose architects carefully and work with them to choose a design that works well with the neighborhood. We don’t have a specific design we copy and paste everywhere. Oftentimes, the architects are based in the areas we are working in.” Working with local architects not only helps to efficiently push progress forward, but it also allows Barrington to gauge the stylistic preferences and human needs that are demanded of a building. “Local architects know the local demographic better than out-
